Crazy Little Thing Called IMUN (Part 3): the knicks knakcs and funny suffs

All those knick knacks and stuffs made IMUN became one of the most unforgettable event in my life, and other friends as well :D

Jadi anak-anak yg ikut IMUN itu ada 19 orang dari 3 angkatan: 2008,2009, dan 2010. There were only 5 of us coming from 2008, they were me and 4 other friends, and 4 of us were joining ARF's committee, only 1 was in WTO.

Here are the fews :D

1. Ngurus surat dispensasi yg repot abis. This was because the time when we had IMUN was also the time when we had mid-term test in our university, especially for my juniors, the 2009 and 2010's students. Untuk UAS ga tanggung2 bow kita bakal sidang di gedung KAA en disitu akan hadir bbrp orang jurnalis, bbrp orang Kemlu, en maybe even staffs from other embassy. Mereka mau liat kayak apa sih prakdip-nya Unpar. Heeeuh.... Tapi yah bangga juga gitu jadi mahasiswi HI unpar ikikiki ^^

Nah, the thing is, it is very difficult to manage or to get a dispensation letter in order to get a permission not to have a mid-test. Our faculty doesn't want to give us susulan examination except for a very strong reason, such as you are suddenly ill in the middle of mid-test and need to be hospitalized. Those you have to obtain an official letter from the hospital stating that you are really sick and are treated in the hospital. Kalo alasan lain yg ga jelas, kaya ada sodara kawinan or harus pergi kemana, jangan harap deh dapet ujian susulan. En kalo gitu, bisa2 nilai UTS kita dapet nol besar en IP kita jeblok, en kudu ngulang mata kuliah itu.

That's why we need to be acknowledged from the university that we really could not join the mid-test because we had IMUN. Later on the university will tell our faculty about the situation that we faced, and the faculty will authorize our lecturers whose subjects we could not attend, to give us susulan exam.

The bureaucracy is excruciating long and confusing. Yah mungkin lebay, tapi pas ngurus itu rasanya udah cape banget. Pertama-tama harus bikin surat permohonan dulu, disertai letter of invitation dari IMUNnya ato event apapun yg kita hadiri. After that, we give the letter to the Bureau of Administration and Academic in our rectorat building to be processed. Mostly it takes 1-2 weeks to get the letters, belon lagi kalo para staff di rektoratnya lagi pada libur.

Either you skip one day in IMUN and attend the class to have the test, or you go to IMUN but you miss the test. Bener2 pilihan yg beraaaat.

2. There are some of my friends who also had to leave IMUN in the 2nd day because they were going to attend the last step of selection to go to Harvard, again for joining MUN. Gue kagak ikut karena mahal booow @.@ it costs at least US$1600 to participate for 2 weeks, not included the uang saku.

Kuota bolosnya cuma 2x, dan selebihnya you will fined Rp 50.000 if don't come to the practise session for whatever reason, even if you are seriously ill and need to be hospitalized. Kalo ga ikut seleksi, ya otomatis you ga lolos. Wuaaah, dilema banget gak sih... Kan sayang gitu. Try to imagine if we were them! Mana yg akan kita pilih?? apa yg akan kita lakukan?? Kalo tetep tinggal di IMUN, kemungkinan untuk menyabet gelar juara itu besar (since they are also very brilliant students). But you automatically lose the chance to go to Harvard. Sedangkan kalo mo balik ke Bandung untuk ikut seleksinya, you'll grab the chance to go to Harvard, but surely you'll lose the opportunity to win some title in the IMUN. Woooo :O Capek tentunya.

3. I was trapped in the elevator in our apartment! And because I am a claustrophobic person, I was really panick in the lift. Kecuali kalo masih muat ngangkut, ya 7 orang masih oke lah. Nah, liftnya pas itu diisi masuk 7 orang coz emang bener2 muat, there was no voices or beeps indicating that the elevator was overweight. So we got in, and the door closed, and suddenly, the lift stucked!! The electricity went off, and there was nothing we could do. There was no signal in our cell phone, we could not press the emergency button, etc. Ga sampe triak2 sih tapi yg jelas udah panik banget. Gw bahkan berusaha untuk membuka paksa pintu lift itu ahahahaha, which was very ridiculous and redundant thing to do :( Teman2 yg lain malah berusaha sibuk menenangkan gue dan bilang berulang kali to not panic. So gw udah mikir yg macem2 gimana kalo liftnya mati terus en kita mati sesak napas, apalagi kan liftnya kecil and there wer 7 people inside it.

You could not imagine how relieve i was when finally the lift worked on again!!! The electricity finally went on and we could make it into the G floor.

4. My partner got a sever stomachache that he needed to go to the hospital in Jakarta. Thank God, he was ill after the session ended. So it did not disturb our concentration during the whole session.

5. Dan masih banyak lagi cerita yg lain-lain.... :D Ada yg jatuh kepleset dg gaya bak ballerina, ada yg kejebak macet di tengah jalan sampe harus ngejar-ngejar travel yg mau berangkat, evaluasi sambil makan2 di Burger King yg dilanjutin di apartemen sampe jam 2 subuh, our head delegate who cried because he was so terharu knowing that we got 3 awards, etc.

Aaaaah.... what an experience!! Gue bersyukur bisa ikut IMUN, even tough this is my last year in the university to be able to participate in such events. And because each delegate is represented by 2 people, so there are 6 countries represented by Unpar students (temen gw yg satu itu partnernya anak UI, so kita boleh aja kalo mau berpartner dg mahasiswa univ lain). Delegasi yg dipegang Unpar itu termasuk yg penting2 kalo mbahas terorisme. They were Indonesia (me and Dimas), China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Laos/Lao PDR. Heheheh. Sejak awal sidang, kami udah terbagi jadi 2 kubu. Each of us presented our working papers, and there were 8 working papers in the conference!!

Thank God for such an unforgettable moment and experience in my life..... ;D
